The McMaster University Presidential Biosafety Advisory Committee (PBAC) is constituted to meet the requirements of granting agencies and Human Pathogens and Toxins Act. The Canadian Biosafety Standards and Guidelines of the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) provide the bare documents.

Through the review of biological research, the Biosafety Committee oversees appropriate containment levels and safe handling practices. The Biosafety Committee meetings are held monthly according to the schedule posted on the Biosafety Website.

Approvals for Award and Project applications and assistance with biosafety and biosecurity related issues are available at any time through the Biosafety Office.
