Research Involving Animals (AREB)

McMaster's Animal Research Ethics Board (AREB) reviews all research, teaching and testing activities involving the use of living animals (for all faculty and affiliated with McMaster University).

The Animal Utilization Protocol (AUP) is intended to provide AREB with information about activities of all faculty members, in all facilities, including individual laboratories and classrooms, which the Committee needs to meet its legal and ethical responsibilities.

To facilitate research, teaching and testing activities, AREB reviews all AUPs, and approves those which, in the opinion of the Board, do not pose any ethical or legal problems. Final approval of all projects must be acquired before work commences.
