Our History:
CSU was established in the Faculty of Health Sciences in 1969 in an era of mainframes, punch cards, and computer operators. Technology has evolved greatly and CSU continues to provide support and remain committed to the faculty in all aspects of information technology.
Today:
CSU provides computer and electronic communications services and support to the Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University at campuses across the city (Hamilton General, St. Joseph's, Henderson..) and around the province in collaboration with Kitchener, Thunder Bay and Many others. CSU is located in the 2D area of the Health Sciences Centre of McMaster University. Our services are offered to all FHS sites and campuses.
Fast facts
- We manage more than 60 servers at CSU.
- Last year we responded to over 3000 service requests.
- An average of 20,000 emails move through CSU servers each day.
- We have a staff of 18 people, servicing a community of more than 2500 faculty, staff and students across Ontario.
- Two CSU staffers are recipients of the President's Award for Outstanding Service.
- There are over 2100 network connections throughout MUMC.
