Waste Management

Confidential Waste

The Confidential Waste Program is now fully implemented at all HHS acute care sites. Crothall Healthcare will no longer be picking up boxes of confidential waste from departments that request them. In order to ensure that the chain of custody for confidential information is maintained, it is critical that each person who creates confidential information is responsible for the disposal of the waste into a console or bin. Desktop cardboard containers are available from Shipping & Receiving to collect your confidential information.

If you have large volumes of confidential waste from purging you must request a locked wheeled tote through the Service Response Center (SRC) at ext 77744. The SRC will relay your information to the site. To ensure the chain of custody for confidential information, department staff must dispose of the information in the tote. The locked tote will be dropped off and picked up by a Sodexo staff member.

All sites have placements of Shred It bins (totes), consoles and mini consoles. We will continue to make minor adjustments to placements as necessary. Please note that service is bi-weekly for some locations where volumes of confidential information do not justify weekly service.

For confidential waste assistance, please call ext 77744.
