Clinician Scientist in Medical Knowledge Translation

The world-renowned Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CE&B) seeks an outstanding clinician scientist, qualified in internal medicine and clinical epidemiology, for a full-time faculty position at the Associate Professor rank in the field of translation of knowledge from research into health care practice. Qualifications include an MD degree, specialty training in internal medicine, and a PhD or MSc in health-research methodology, clinical epidemiology or a related field.

The Department particularly invites applicants with research interests and proven expertise in health informatics research, evidence-based medicine, and knowledge translation research at the interface between clinical research and health care. A special interest in physician or patient information and behaviour change and/or computerized clinical decision support would be desirable.

Applicants should have an in-depth knowledge of health-research methodology/clinical epidemiology and be an advocate for evidence-informed health care. The successful candidate will have a productive track record of research, demonstrated by publications in peer review journals and participation as PI in peer‑reviewed research.

Applicants must be qualified for clinical practice in internal medicine (with or without subspecialty training), and eligible for license in the Province of Ontario, Applicants will aspire to a career that combines clinical/healthcare research, teaching, and clinical practice in their specialty. The successful candidate will be cross-appointed to a clinical department in the Faculty of Health Sciences and will join the clinical-practice plan of that department.

This position will teach and supervise students in the Health Research Methodology Graduate Program, the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medicine Programs and/or other educational programs at McMaster; previous experience teaching/supervising in undergraduate and graduate-level programs will be an asset.
