ASHS Office Weekly Update: May 15, 2012
Immersion Course in Social Medicine On-Site in Northern Uganda (January 2013)
This annual, four-week course, held January 7-February 1, 2013, is designed for medical students in their clinical years links clinical tropical medicine with social medicine teaching. Thirty medical students enroll each year, with half of the spaces filled by students from Ugandan medical schools, and the other half comprised of international medical students hailing from outside Uganda. St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu, Uganda (www.lacorhospital.org) hosts the course on-site in collaboration with Gulu University Faculty of Medicine (GUFM) and the Students for Equity in Healthcare (SEHC), a Ugandan student advocacy group.

Support GRPSEO Student Scholarships at the GRPSEO Fundraiser Golf Tournament
The Grand River Post Secondary Education Office (GRPSEO) will be hosting the "Norm's Golf for Grads" (in memory of Norm Jacobs) to benefit the GRPSEO student scholarships.

CINUP $1,000 Scholarship
It is that time of year again, and students are getting ready to think about starting or in some cases continuing their post secondary education. The Canadian Indian Nations Umbrella Plan is offering a $1,000 scholarship for eligible Aboriginal students for the 2012-13 academic year.
Please note that the brochure linked mentions the deadline as midnight May 1. CINUP has confirmed that they will be extending it to June 15, and will be notifying the winners and awarding the Scholarships by July 15, 2012.

GRPSEO Bursary Deadline: May 17th, 2012!
Post Secondary Education Assistance is provided to eligible Six Nations post secondary students enrolled in eligible post secondary programs of study within the limits of funds voted by Parliament.
Tuition assistance for eligible full or part time Six Nations students includes tuition fee(s) and mandatory student fees including approved admission fees (application, assessment, registration or mature student fees) for a course, semester, or academic year for an eligible post secondary program of studies for which education assistance has been approved.

2nd Annual Indigenous Education Network’s Indigenizing Psychology Symposium

This one-day symposium will cover a wide range of issues related to Indigenous mental health and healing in the community. It is designed for students, practitioners, and researchers of all disciplines who are interested in enhancing their understanding of community mental health practice, as well as knowledge and skills around Indigenous mental health.
